The Fusion Philosophy

Defining Fusion

Fusion means “a merging of diverse, distinct, or separate elements into a unified whole.” Fusion students and instructors come from many different backgrounds, and each individual’s experience influences their path to understanding. These varied experiences provide valuable contributions to our improvement as a team at Fusion Academy. Our philosophy encourages students to draw what works, and learn from those around them for the betterment of the individual and the progression of the art of Jiu-Jitsu.

The Essence of Innovation at Fusion

At Fusion Academy, Jiu Jitsu is our core art. It is technique, leverage, balance, positioning and creativity that are the basis of Jiu-Jitsu’s effectiveness and popularity. However, the Fusion philosophy also embraces and blends other martial arts that contribute to and compliment Jiu-Jitsu. By utilizing self-defense basics from the Gracie Jiu-Jitsu System and combining principles and techniques from other grappling disciplines like Wrestling, Judo, and Sambo, Fusion Academy offers a proven self-protection system easily grasped by children and adults alike.

Dedicated To Technique ©

Fusion Academy’s motto, “Dedicated To Technique” reflects our commitment to the historical tradition and present day philosophical emphasis of Jiu-Jitsu. All students who pass through our doors know that this passion for, and dedication to, the technical nuances of the art is manifest in each and every move. Professor Helio Gracie imparted this truth to his student Pedro Sauer, who passed it to his student Eddie Edmunds. Professor Edmunds continues to emphasize this key concept to his instructors and students from around the globe.

Trying Fusion

We believe that in order for a prospective student to stick with Jiu-Jitsu and get the most out of their instruction, they need to connect with the teachers and students that make up the environment they’ll be training in. We invite you to try our school free for 1 week, and encourage you to make it to as many classes as you can so you can see how you fit in with our students and staff.  Let us know what your goals are. We’re here to help!
